Enjoy your lunch outdoors and learn the art of Japanese paper folding!

Join the JICC on Friday, June 5th as we participate in Golden Triangle BID's Farragut Fridays with a special pop-up origami workshop!

The word origami literally means "paper-folding"; it is a combination of ori-, meaning "folded," and kami-, meaning "paper." Through careful folding and sculpting in a variety of ways, a flat sheet of paper is transformed into an intricate sculpture. The art of origami dates has been practiced in Japan since the Edo period (1603-1867) and now we're bringing it to you.

Participants will learn how to fold:

  • Flapping bird (it moves!)
  • Dog
  • Fish

You will also get a chance to check out some of the amazing origami from the JICC. Materials and instruction will be provided, so escape the indoors and unleash your creativity as we fold some art!

In the event of inclement weather, this workshop will be held on Friday, June 12,
