The Philippine Embassy is pleased to invite you to a “Talakayan sa Pasuguan” with Hon. Ernesto M. Pernia, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and Director General of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), to be held at the Philippine Embassy on Wednesday, 5 October 2016, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
Secretary Pernia will share news on sustained macro-economic sustainability, institution building, and positive growth prospects. He will also discuss President Rodrigo Duterte Administration’s socio-economic agenda, and will complement the recently-concluded Talakayan with Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay.
NEDA is the country’s premier socioeconomic planning body, highly regarded as the authority in macroeconomic forecasting and policy analysis and research. It provides high-level advice to policymakers in Congress and the Executive Branch. Its key responsibilities include (i) coordination of such activities as the formulation of policies, plans and programs to efficiently set the broad parameters for national and sub-national (area-wide, regional and local development); (ii) review, evaluation, and monitoring of infrastructure projects identified under the Comprehensive and Integrated Infrastructure Program (CIIP) consistent with the government’s thrust of increasing investment spending for the growing demand on quality infrastructure facilities; and (iii) undertake short-term policy reviews to provide critical analyses of development issues and policy alternatives to decision-makers.
Secretary Pernia will be in Washington D.C. to attend the 2016 World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (WBG-IMF) Annual Meetings from 5 to 8 October 2016. ###
