March 17, 6:45pm at the Mexican Cultural Institute
Join the Mexican Cultural Institute for a screening of Jardín en el Mar as part of the Environmental Film Festival!
Jardín en el Mar tells the story of Espíritu Santo, one of the islands in the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico, which were in 2005 designated a UNESCO world heritage site. To celebrate the islands' preservation, artist Cristina Iglesias created a "Garden in the Sea", a setting of submerged screens that act as an artificial reef to aid marine life.
This documentary follows the 4-year process of the creating and executing the piece, but also dives deep into the beauty of the place, the heart and soul of the people involved and makes a clear statement of how valuable and beautiful our blue planet is.
A Q&A with Executive Producer Rodolfo Ogarrio, Mexican Foundation for Environmental Education, will follow the screening.
