Event Description

The International Club of DC, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Slovenia, cordially request the pleasure of your company for an enchanting evening of culture, art, music, cuisine, and wine from Slovenia, to celebrate 25 years of independence featuring welcome remarks by the Ambassador of Slovenia, Ambassador Dr. Božo Cerar.

This is a wonderful opportunity to discover Slovenia through all your senses while meeting diplomats and ICDC members! The evening starts with a classical music performance by London-based Slovenian flautist, who is also a first prize winner of the International Flute Competition in Picardie, France. His performance will be followed by presentation by acclaimed sommelier Andreja Košir Gažovic, who will introduce a selection of fine Slovenian wines, awarded at the 2016 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in New York. The wines will be matched with exquisite Slovenian food from different regions of the country.

The musical program will include compositions by young Slovenian composers Nejc Kuhar and Nina Šenk as well as highlights from the classical repertoire by Telemann, Debussy, Paganini and Bach.

George Philip Telemann: Fantasia
Claude Debussy: Syrinx
Nejc Kuhar: Sonatino
Nina Šenk: Pushing Forward II
