Concert: Argentina 200 years of independence

On the 200th anniversary of the independence of Argentina, the Embassy of Argentina and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will hold a concert by the Pan American Symphony Orchestra (PASO) conducted by Sergio Buslje. The program will include tango music from different periods, from the most traditional one to the most contemporary.  The guest players will be Rodolfo Zanetti at the bandoneón and Diana LeGrand at the violin.

Rodolfo Zanetti, bandoneón
A native of Mendoza, Argentina, Rodolfo Zanetti, played tango music from an early age. He joined the Mancifesta Orchestras and Tango & Punto before co-founding the Quintet Bandó, with whom he toured Washington, DC, Chicago and New York. In 2003, under the auspices of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation, Zanetti directed Maria de Buenos Aires, the masterpiece of Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer. In the United States, Zanetti has performed as soloist with the Pan American Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Lisner Auditorium of George Washington University, the Embassy of Argentina, the Organization of American States and other notable venues. In New York he performed as soloist at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Carnegie Hall.
Diana LeGrand, violin
Diana LeGrand from Assisi, Italy, started studying music with her mother who was a violin and piano teacher when she was two year old.  She received both her Bachelor and a Master’s degree in Violin and continued her studies at NCSA with Robert Mann, one of the founding members of the Julliard String Quartet, and with Nicholas Mann, the second violinist of the Mendelssohn String Quartet.  Upon returning to Italy, Diana continued her music studies at the Conservatory of Modena.
