Presented by the Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan
Celebrate the opening of our Fall 2016 showcase, Neo-Calligraphy - Ten Chi Jin -, with a special live shodo and vibraphone performance!
Master calligrapher Setsuhi Shiraishi specializes in shodo, the Japanese form of calligraphy, and is renowned for her large-scale performance works as well as her work in fashion and jewelry. Ms. Shiraishi will provide insight into the world of traditional and modern Japanese calligraphy through her own style of "Neo-Calligraphy."
After a brief presentation, Ms. Shiraishi will demonstrate both conventional and modern shodo while accompanied by popular DC-based vibraphonist, Chuck Redd. Please join us for this once-in-a-lifetime performance as we say goodbye to hot weather and welcome the cool jazz of autumn at the JICC!
