“Christmas A Cappella” with CALMUS from Leipzig
From ancient songs to contemporary, join us on Dec. 14as scintillating vocal ensemble CALMUS brings 'a little twinkle of Christmas magic' to the German Embassy Washington
All graduates of Leipzig‘s renowned St. Thomas Church Choir School, Calmus offers the unique combination of a pure soprano voice with four male voices ranging from bass to countertenor. The seamless blend of these five voices lends itself to the almost limitless range of music the ensemble offers, from renaissance and baroque masters through great German romantic works, all the way to contemporary choral repertoire, as well as pop songs and jazz.
Over 18 years together, Calmus has developed a huge repertoire of Christmas music (and has recorded two Christmas CDs). Their Christmas A Cappellaprogram is very representative of the huge range of music that can be sung with just five voices, designed with ancient and contemporary songs in the first part, and newer arrangements and ‘a little twinkle of Christmas magic’ in the second part.
Calmus hopes their Christmas A Cappella program will bring the Holiday spirit into your hearts, and perhaps bring you a bit of calm and inner peace during these often quite hectic December days. And, of course, we want you to “Have yourselves a merry little Christmas!”
A reception with Lebkuchen and light refreshments follows the concert.
