Few people know that an unprecedented international humanitarian effort took place during WWI. As early as 1914, thousands of Belgian and American volunteers pulled together under the leadership of future President Hoover and saved millions from starvation.

Professor Tammy Proctor's presentation, drawing on the 'Glory and Gratitude to the United States' exhibit at the European Union Delegation, will reveal a glimpse of the lives of children, women and civilians during WWI: their daily struggles, their remarkable solidarity, their gratitude towards the United States, their hopes for Peace.

This program is in conjunction with the Embassy of Belgium.

Doors open at 5:45 pm and close promptly at 6:30 pm.

The event is free, but reservations are required. It is expected to fill up fast.

Please note that Conversations in Culture events may be filmed or photographed.
