In conjunction with the exhibition Ocha & Wagashi: The History of Japanese Tea & Sweets
Learn about the history and culture of Japanese tea (ocha) and sweets (wagashi) in this special presentation at the JICC!
Yoshitaka Nishino, the head confectioner of Matsukawaya, an award-winning Japanese confectionery founded in 1862, will present on the history and art of traditional Japanese sweets, called wagashi. He will introduce the ingredients and techniques that go into crafting these exquisite works of art. This will be followed by a presentation on the history and culture of Japanese tea (ocha) by Teaism, a DC-based collection of teahouses and restaurants and purveyor of high-quality Japanese tea.
Registration is required.
