Join the World Affairs Council-Washington, DC as we host His Excellency Anatoly Antonov, Ambassador of Russia to the United States, for an Ambassador Series event. Ambassador Antonov will discuss the current state of the Russian-American relationship.

Russian-American relations are struggling through their most difficult period since the end of the Cold War. Geopolitical conflicts, economic sanctions, and election meddling accusations are all but some of the issues that have instigated tensions between the two states.  Can tensions be reduced? What, if anything, can be done to improve the relationship between Russia and the United States? Or is this the new normal of Russo-US relations?

His Excellency Anatoly Antonov was appointed Ambassador of Russia to the United States in August of 2017. He was formerly Deputy Minister of Defense from 2011-2016, and served as Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation from 2016-2017.

Amb. Thomas Pickering, Vice Chair, Hills & Company and former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, will serve as discussant.

This event is being held in the Polaris Suites of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
