Cinema Italian Style: Meet Director Laura Bispuri and Movie Star Alba Rohrwacher
After rocking the Berlin International Film Festival and Tribeca 2018, Director Laura Bispuriand movie star Alba Rohrwacher arrive to the Nation’s Capital to present Figlia Mia (Daughter of Mine) at Filmfest DC.
Meet them in person at the Embassy of Italy for a sneak preview of Daughter of Mine and an all-women conversation on Italian contemporary cinema moderated by Laura delli Colli, president of the Italian Film Journalists Association, the organization that awards the Nastri d’Argento prizes for Italian and European cinema.
Laura Bispuri made a splash in the 2015 Berlin Film Festival with her first feature, transgender-themed Sworn Virgin. She is back this year with Daughter of Mine, about a 10-year-old girl’s rapport with her adoptive and biological mothers.
In barely a decade, Italian movie icon Alba Rohrwacher has become one of the world’s most sought-after young actresses. Recipient of several awards, including Venice’ “Coppa Volpi”, two David di Donatello and one Nastro d’Argento, Alba is best known in the U.S. for her performance as Tilda Swinton’s daughter in 2009’s I Am Love by Academy Award nominated director Luca Guadagnino.
