Special Screening of the Film "1804: The Hidden History of Haiti"

In honor of Haitian Heritage Month & Haitian Flag Day, Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA) presents a special screening of the documentary film 1804: The Hidden History of Haiti at the Embassy of Haiti on Saturday, May 19th at 7:00 pm. Produced by the creator of the best-selling Hidden Colorsfilm series, 1804: The Hidden History of Haitiexplores the stories of four of the principal players who were instrumental in Haiti's independence: Makandal, Dutty Bookman, Toussaint Louverture, and Jean-Jacques Dessalines. The documentary provides a compelling look into the strategies, the motivation and the mindset that led Haiti to become the only slave population to successfully overthrow its oppressors. The screening will be followed by a discussion on "the price of freedom."
