Movie “Disobedience – The Sousa Mendes Story” - Portuguese drinks and Q&A with Olivia Mattis (Sousa Mendes Foundation)

The Embassy of Portugal has the pleasure to invite you to the screening of the movie “Disobedience – The Sousa Mendes Story” - a 2008 movie on Aristides Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux who disobeyed his superiors and issued visas that allowed thousands of people, mostly Jewish, to escape the Nazis when they invaded France in 1940. Thanks to his actions, Sousa Mendes was named Righteous Among the Nations, by Israel.

Immeadiately before this event, Portuguese wine and beer will be available from the bar at the Avalon Theater.

After the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Olivia Mattis, from the Aristides Sousa Mendes Foundation.
