Director Kim Jee-woon's highly anticipated period thriller The Age of Shadows follows Lee Jung-chool (Song Kang-ho), a Korean captain in the Japanese police sent to infiltrate the armed resistance fighting for Korean independence in the 1920s. Jung-chool encounters resistance leader Kim Woo-jin (Gong Yoo) and the two become close, despite knowing they stand on opposite sides of their historical struggle. As information leaks and tensions rise, the resistance plans a daring strike on the Imperial Japanese headquarters in Seoul from their base in Shanghai, China. Conflicted, Jung-chool’s true loyalties remain ambiguous as he holds the fate of the resistance in his hand.
