Min Jae (Im Si Wan) is a broke college student and small-time swindler who finds himself in hot water when he unknowingly targets professional forger Suk Goo (Jin Goo). But Suk Goo has an eye for talent, so instead of punishing the young crook, he enlists him in his fraud syndicate. The two criminals hit it off, along with enforcer Ji Won (Park Byung Eun), but rifts soon develop and things go south. With the law on their tail, the three men learn that in their business there’s a very fine line between friends and enemies.
To prepare for making the tense 2017 crime thriller One Line, director Yang Kyung Mo hung out with actual scammers to better understand criminal psychology. While telling a compelling story, the film also explores sensitive social issues of wealth, poverty, and where exploitative crime intersects both.
In Korean with English subtitles. 131 minutes. For mature audiences.
