The Mexican Cultural Institute presents its newest exhibit, SACAL: UN MEXICANO UNIVERSAL opening on June 19 and on display through July 27.

Join us for the exhibit opening on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:45 pm at the Mexican Cultural Institute, featuring a curator's talk with Gregorio Luke at 7:30 pm.

The sample of works comprise two series: The Paraphrase series, inspired by some of the most distinguished artists throughout time like Michelangelo, Frida Kahlo and Picasso, to name a few, and the Characters of Impact series, in which Sacal recreates unmistakable historical figures such as Einstein, Winston Churchill, Cuauhtemoc, and more.

Gregorio Luke is an expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture. He is the former Director of the Museum of Latin American Art, Consul of Cultural Affairs of Mexico in Los Angeles and First Secretary at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington D.C. Mr. Luke has given over 1,000 Lectures in museums and universities in Mexico, Europe and the United States. He has spoken at institutions such as The Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institution, the San Diego Art Museum, the Detroit Institute of Art, and universities such as Harvard, Columbia and Georgetown, among others.
