Embassy of Oman Cultural Division
The candidate will function as the Academic Advisor in the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the sultanate of Oman. This position provides academic advising to new and continuing sponsored Omani students studying in the USA and Canada. Assist students in making sure they are following their educational goals as stated by their university and major while establishing a clear pathway to successfully complete the identified degree requirements. In addition, authenticating graduate degrees and making sure of the accreditation of the schools they are attending.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists students with processing applications for admissions, reinstatements, extensions of stay and other immigration related matters.
Maintain accurate and effective students’ database including contact information, sponsorship information and advising documentation.
Follow up on the students’ academic progress and monitors at-risk students and provides customized intervention services.
Manage and prepare timely academic progress reports at the end of each semester.
Works collaboratively with Universities in the US and with the Ministry of higher Education in Oman to support and manage the Omani Scholarship Program.
Attend and participate in meetings or on committees related to Educational Conferences as required.
Respond to the students or any reports or concerns of the students during their course of study.
Provide accurate immigration information to students, monitors and tracks student immigration status, and maintains appropriate files.
Coordinates and plans orientation programs that support students to inform them of the unique needs of their F-1 Visa.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree is preferred.
The position requires a minimum of (3-6) years of experience in any combination of experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
Arabic and English reading and writing skills are required.
Strong interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.
